For example, there is an unusual disease that is called coarctation of the aorta. This ailment affects the large artery that brings blood out of your heart. Herein the aorta is firmly contracted a few inches before expanding to its normal diameter. This must be one of the reasons of high blood pressure. But, once this is surgically treated blood pressure will still take quite a few years to return to its normal level. Certainly, all of these factors differ very much depending upon a person’s genetics. Therefore, someone who is genetically tending to have high blood pressure will be more seriously affected by these other problems. This is specifically true with younger people. but, it is not known for sure why this in fact happens. These causes of high blood pressure may be due to psychological or social stress.

In the 1960s and 1970s it was considered that both physical and psychological pressure were responsible for high blood pressure. Since then research has confirmed that this is merely not true. Certainly, there may be a very few people for whom this is true, but it does not give explanation for the causes of high blood pressure. This is why there have been wide-ranging studies done, looking at what the genuine causes of high blood pressure may really be. These studies have revealed that depression as well as social and psychological stresses can cause high blood pressure.
